Laura Ashley The Tea Room opens at The Fairwater Head Hotel

2019 is a landmark year at Fairwater Head Hotel in Hawkchurch, with not only a new Head Chef, David Brown in their Greenfields Restaurant, but also the much-anticipated arrival of Laura Ashley The Tea Room.

Their wealth of experience and high standards as well as the enviable location, are just some of the reasons that the prestigious Laura Ashley Tea Rooms were keen to partner with them to become the 6th LATR in the UK.  Laura Ashley have helped redesign and redecorate the Edwardian drawing room, capturing its history and provenance and adding a style synonymous with Laura Ashley, including bespoke lighting and wall panels, as well as designer furniture and tableware from their own collections.

When asked about this partnership Carrie said, ‘We feel this is the right match for us and our guests, the Laura Ashley style is perfectly suited for our building and the renovations have made a beautiful room into an outstanding one.’  Adam spoke about the benefits to the business stating ‘We are thrilled to be able to offer something else to our guests that is truly unique in the area…. interest is high and we never knew we had so many friends!’

The new Laura Ashley Tea Rooms will be launched with a series of exclusive events throughout May which will culminate in the grand opening to the public on 15th May.

Adam & Carrie’s History:

Adam and Carrie meet in 1985 when they were both working in the beautiful Swiss ski resort of Zermatt, Carrie as a chalet girl and Adam as a photographer and ended up running and chefing a large Swiss Pub in the resort for the next 2 years.

Upon returning to the UK, they spent a few years working in and running restaurants and wine bars in London for other people, and then after much searching they found Prince Hall Hotel, a small 8 bedroom Georgian country house hotel on the middle of Dartmoor, Devon which they ran for over 9 years winning various accolades including AA 2 rosettes for their restaurant where Adam was the Head Chef, AA Courtesy and Care Award and the very prestigious AA ‘Red Star’ Hotel Award.

In 2007 Adam and Carrie fell in love with Fairwater Head Hotel as soon as they walked through the front door, with the beautiful hall way and open fireplace leading to a sweeping staircase. It is a beautiful Edwardian house set in a stunning location with far reaching views over the Axe Valley and West facing terrace allowing to see most stunning sunsets over the garden.  They have been here ever since and have continued to win awards and accolades including AA 1 and 2 rosettes, Taste of the West Gold, Devon Food runners up to Best Restaurant.  They have spent many years upgrading, improving and enhancing the hotel and enjoy the look of wonder on their guests faces as they explore the house and gardens.
