Teignbridge District Council Business Coronavirus Update - 25th March

Businesses can keep up to date on all Government Covid-19 support schemes via the GOV Business Support website. As many of the support schemes will be administered through local authorities, Teignbridge District Council are also keeping their TDC Business Support page up to date as and when further details from Government emerge. Business Grants (Status: Coming Soon)

Teignbridge District Council have received guidance on the business grant funding (for those in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief & Rural Rate Relief and businesses in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors) from Government late Monday evening.

They are now developing an application form for recipients to input their payment details which they hope to have up and running in the coming days. They will be getting in contact with all eligible businesses as soon as it is live.

There is no need to contact them at this stage. 

They have been notified that some businesses have been receiving calls from scammers claiming to represent the council asking for bank details. Please note: Teignbridge will never ask for bank details over the phone and they ask businesses to remain vigilant during these difficult times.

Business Loans (Status: Live)

The Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme is now live, with details available through the British Business Bank. Businesses are advised to get in contact with their bank if they wish to apply.

The loans are the main way for businesses to access immediate Government support until the grant schemes and job retention scheme are operational.

Business Rates Relief (Status: Coming Soon)

Businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, irrespective of rateable value, will receive 100% retail relief for 2020/21. This relief has also been applied to pubs, estate agents, lettings agencies and bingo halls.

There is no action for you. Teignbridge District Council are working to rebill all affected businesses to incorporate this relief as soon as possible.

Support for the Self Employed (Status: Awaiting Details)

The Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, confirmed in Parliament yesterday that work is continuing to ensure self-employed people are supported during disruption caused by Covid-19. Teignbridge District Council are hoping to hear further details tomorrow which they will share on social media

Current guidance for the self-employed is available on their Business Support page, which will be kept up to date as and when further details from Government emerge.

Food Businesses

Guidance and support is available for food businessesfood deliveries and takeaways and community groups and charities offering food.
