A former coaching inn, The Arundell sits at the gateway between Devon and Cornwall and with its position on the side of the old A30 it has for hundreds of years been a haven for weary travelers, providing delicious food and a comfortable bed. However, the village of Lifton is is also surrounded by some of England’s best wild and unspoilt fishing and since 1932, it has enjoyed the reputation of being one of the UK’s top sporting hotels; often referred to as the home of West Country Fly Fishing.

The hotel has 20 miles of rivers for fishing for wild fish with the fly and arranges both driven and rough shooting, and moorland stalking. Our beautiful countryside and nearby Dartmoor are ideal for rambling or cycling.

The hotel is also renowned for excellent food. We are a Masterchef destination with a focus on ingredient provenance and also a member of the Great Inns of Britain.

The Arundell has a long-standing reputation for its culinary excellence, comfortable surroundings and relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen offers an Anglo-French repertoire which has a traditional foundation and relies on quality local ingredients.

There is a gentle richness to the dishes which are superbly executed and full of flavour.

Enjoy both lunch or dinner in either the rococo elegance of our main restaurant or the warmth of the log fire in our Lower Restaurant and bar. Breakfast and Afternoon Tea are both served in the main restaurant only. In summer you can dine on the terrace or gardens overlooking the historic cock-flighting pit.
